PDW Bags is an effort to compile feedback and input from experienced professionals to evaluate current offerings of bags & equipment for PDW carry, and to make recommendations on their configuration to best support the user's mission.
Presently there are numerous bags on the market advertised as tools for covert carry and rapid deployment of PDWs. Unfortunately, not all are effective in that mission. Some have significant drawbacks and limitations the average user may not realize until after purchase.
PDW Bags seeks to provide a simple guideline for potential users (military, law enforcement, or civilian) to reference when considering adding a PDW bag to their equipment.
Only the end user can determine the appropriate level of protection they require in their personal circumstances. With this in mind, those considering this option should be aware that deploying a concealed PDW as a civilian in a self defense situation may cause more problems than it solves. Chris Baker of LuckyGunner.com has done an excellent job of breaking down the limited applications and potential impacts of discreet PDW carry in his article series "The Backpack Gun Project".
While we do not agree with all of his conclusions around how to set up a backpack gun, his analysis on the appropriate use of a discreetly carried PDW is superb, and we highly recommend reviewing this content.
